Greenlee and Wicker fraternity brothers

OXFORD, Ms-- Interesting fact to point out. Sigma Nu, I believe.

Wicker microtargetting good sign for Musgrove- here's why.

MADISON, Ms-- Cudos to John Leek for the revelation of these calls. His idea that microtargetting will be good for the GOP in the future is true. However, it does Wicker no good now, and actually hurts him.

Wicker doesn't have time to be microtargetting at this point. He should have done that months ago. The only thing Wicker needs to be focusing on is pumping up his name i.d. and likeability. Any money spent microtargetting is money he should be spending on name i.d.
Musgrove will ride two large tides:

1. Obama in the Delta and Jackson.

2. Childers in North Mississippi.

Should be within a couple thousand votes.

Will Wicker explain allegations ?

MADISON, Ms-- Members of the Catfish Nation want to know what "ethical misconduct" Musgrove participated in.

I love a great bare knuckled political brawl--been in several myself. However, when folks start going personal and claim they are "not-uh - familiar with - uh - that part of the commercial", then I am going to call it how I see it.

Hopefully- by Monday- we'll figure this one out. Too bad Bardwell is off the web. I bet his post on this topic would be hilarious.

Ethical Misconduct ?

MADISON, Ms-- Will Democrats ask Wicker what ad was talking about?

Will Cottonmouth ask what the ad was about ?

This particular ad says Musgrove committed "ethical misconduct".

When asked about Musgrove's supposed "ethical misconduct", Wicker said the following:

"I - I - I - I don't think that - I'm - I'm -I'm not sure- that uh- that- that I'm-uh- familiar with that part of the commercial.

Political ads can cost a small fortune. I read every script of every ad of the last campaign I worked on. Our ads were the most successful in Mississippi history so I can speak with great detail about this subject.

I am curious about this. If you are a candidate for United States Senate and you make a charge like that against a former Governor, wouldn't you know what the charge was?

Wouldn't you ?

I would, and I'm gonna find out what the "ethical misconduct" was that Wicker's ad was talking about.

BEVERLY HILLS, California-- The Catfish Report has just confirmed that the cultural phenom will return. That is actually old news. The new news is that this show will be drastically different from the original show.

Hoover Sauce

MADISON, Ms--Have you ever heard of it? Well we have, and you need to get some too.
If you live near the metro Jackson area, you can stop by Jimmy's Prime Meats in Ridgeland off Hwy 51 across the street from McDonalds.

This sauce is a honey brown mixture of soy, garlic, various spices, and a secret sweetener. This sauce is legendary and you should google "hoover sauce" to read more. Leave page and google now.

Like the movements of a Mississippi blue gilled Catfish, TCR returns to slow, but efficient posting

MADISON, Ms-- TCR has been enjoying the Madison pad and is currently about to smoke four cornish game hens on the Egg. No frills. Just olive oil, salt, pepper, and garlic powder.

Sometimes chicken tastes close to perfect with these four ingredients are used together.

Globe overwhelmingly supports Obama for U.S. President

MADISON, Ms-- The Catfish report is issuing the following challenge:

Find a poll that suggests or makes remarkably strong reference to a McCain win in a foreign country.

In a more adjacent geo political frame-- see which candidate our bordering countries of Mexico and Canada prefers.

Barbour did what ?

JACKSON, Ms-- Did the Governor really free a man who murdered his ex wife via shotgun ? Is this really happening ?

The Repor

MADISON, Ms--The Catfish Report is happy to return to regular publishing.

The first update is the release of Greg Davis' concession like fund raising report. Childers is also getting hit really hard on Supertalk. Expect different? Anyone with half a brain knows that Childers will win this election. The Catfish Report Political Director, Aaron Wells belies Childers will win by near landslide-like (58) proportions.

The prediction markets still remain virtually stagnant as the picking of party veeps has still yet to occur. Obama's chances climbed to nearly 70 percent, but have gone back to 65.

There is certainly a lot going on in the Musgrove vs. Wicker election. Neshoba will a huge event for these candidates. Its definately the most important Neshoba of either of the two's entire political career. The Catfish Report's editor Hardy Case will be at the speeches.

There is much to report on concerning the Catfish Report's acquisition of the Big Green Egg. Brisket, ribs, and Boston butts have all been smoked on the Egg. The product is always beautiful and juicy. A loyal reader inquired about pictures of the Egg and what goes in it. This will happen real soon. TCR can not express to you the effectiveness and efficiency enough. TCR has cooked several dished on the Egg and its total cook time is about two and a half days. Remarkably, the Egg hasn't even used half a 20lb bag of charcoal.

The Egg is here and it's here to stay.

BBQ tip you won't learn in culinary school

MADISON, Ms-- Never ever cook a pork shoulder, brisket, or other smoking meat without using some sort of drip pan. I had to learn this back years ago cooking in Canton, Mississippi. The grease will smolder your fire and you'll be adding, rearranging, or restarting you coals.

If you don't have a drip pan, double layer some aluminum foil and make a plate that your meat can sit in without the juices spilling over.

Green Egg cooks overnite unattended--produces classic, Mississippi bbq.

MADISON, Ms-- The Catfish Report's Chuck Poindexter reported this morning that the temperature of the egg was set on 275 at eleven p.m. last evening. This morning at six a.m. the temperature was on 250. This is unheard of.

It is now ten and the temp is also 250. Nuts.

Childers will win re-election with greater margin

MADISON, Ms -- Cory Adair, msgop worker, stated that Childers "hijacked" the gop platform. That statement was wasted air.

Yes, Childers will win re-election by wider margins and it is partly because the inexperience of many of the ground staff working for the msgop. Childers certainly won on his own merit, but the failed efforts and the numb touch on the issues of the msgop doesn't appear to be a trend that will cease in the near future.

The "hijacked" statement is ridiculous. Childers made his own platform, and it is conservative. Yes he is a democrat and yes- he can adopt any plan he wants to. Remember Adair - this is Mississippi, and most dem males from North Mississippi are probably more conservative than you are. Honestly, and with all due respect to Childers, he is a good ole country boy just like most other Mississippi males. This is a two party system for a reason, so save your time and chalk this one up for the dems this go around. If I were you, I would focus on another race.

The Big Green Egg

MADISON, Ms-- The Catfish Report just acquired this magnificent piece of smokery. Will report soon.

EDITORIAL - Wicker will go extremely negative on Musgrove

MADISON, Ms-- In an election year full of twists and turns, its good to know that some easy predictions can still be made. One of those straight and narrow predictions is that Wicker will throw some gumbo at you know who.

Whenever a campaign manager says that the "more they know about candidate x, the more they like candidate y" you can be sure they will go negative--real negative.

The same quote was given by one of McCain's press crew members last week. This is a smash mouth, backed in the corner, life or death fight for the Republicans. In the RNC's play book, negative campaigning is simply a trusty tool of the trade and it will be greased up good for this particular race.

Wu's predictions

MADISON, Ms-- A new political prediction technique created by the Catfish Report chief pollster Che Wu, will walk the reader through the presidential winner's ultimate victory.

"This technique requires a location of silence, a keen knowledge of how the major issues interconnect, and an open mind, or as the movie critics say -be willing to suspend disbelief, " Wu said.

Catfish Report writers are vigorously working on this story.

Jackson Police officer shot

JACKSON, Ms -- Reports are in that one suspect is in custody for the shooting. More to follow.

Fry-baked chicken tenders

MADISON, Ms-- Reports are in that a better way of cooking tenders is becoming popular. Experts say that if done correctly, produces the crunchiest and juicy tenders ever to be placed inside the mouth of a mammal.

Chuck Poindexter, new executive chef of the Catfish Report issued the following directions on this method:

"The first thing to always make sure of is that your batter is heavily coating the tenders. Weak batter- weak chef ! Next you need to lightly fry both sides of the tenders then quickly place on baking sheet and into oven at 350. Cook for 8-10 minutes, and you're golden--literally. "

While this is certainly not a new way of cooking, it is noted as especially good for the chicken tender since most are either fried or cooked over heat.

Prediction markets holding steady

MADISON, Ms-- There have been no serious changes to the markets as of this morning. Expect McCain to rise from thirty percent. This is a very low number, and the first debate hasn't even occurred.

Who will dems run against Pickering (Stacey) for lieutenant governor ?

MADISON, Ms-- Speculation is increasing about which dem will make this run. Pickering is on a natural move up, and Bryant is already all but knighted future governor.

Could it be a young legislator or perhaps a perennial candidate ?

If anyone knows or cares to speculate- feel free to do so.

EDITORIAL - Wicker should ask Craig, Vitter to remove names from legislation

MADISON, Ms-- Larry Craig and David Vitter should be off this "marraige protection" legislation. Wicker should distance himself from Vitter and Craig as they are in no way, role models for any marraige.

Does Wicker think any legislation with Vitter and Craig's name on it will pass the Democratically controlled Congress ?

Tobacco tax is only a pipe dream

JACKSON, Ms-- Any legislator, political operative, or journalist who thinks there is even a slim chance that Tobacco will be taxed under Barbour's watch is completely and utterly - dead wrong.

Happy Fourth

MADISON, Ms--Swine shall be cooked on this glorious day.

Lobbying firm stands to gain from Wicker election

JACKSON, Ms-- Capitol Resources LLC's Austin Barbour is listed as the campaign manager of Wicker's campaign for an elected Senate seat in Mississippi. While several reports have stated that Austin is the campaign manager, some pundits have made mention that the firm's main earners - Henry Barbour, John Lundy, and Clare Hester- would stand to gain the most from the victors of a Wicker election win.

Barbour, Lundy, and Hester are three of the most influential lobbyists in Mississippi and are very effective lobbyists for blue chip and Fortune listed companies.

Is Barbour speaking at Neshoba ?

MADISON, Ms-- The Catfish Report is seeking information regarding the status of Barbour's schedule concerning this event.

His speech will most likely focus on GOP campaign efforts and plans for his remaining term.

Editorial - black turnout will be huge

MADISON, Ms-- Hardy Case, editor of the Catfish Report, released the following statement:

"Make no mistake, after to talking to many of my contacts throughout the state, I have come to the solid conclusion that the black turnout in Mississippi will make a difference in one major race in this state. GOP and DEM candidates alike should take this information and adjust their focus. It will be an almost impossible feat for any GOP candidate to garner a tenth of the black vote taking into consideration the GOP's complete lack of minority outreach since Ken Melman's departure from the GOP ranks."

Traffic jam yesterday

JACKSON, Ms-- Reports are in that hundreds of workers were stalled in traffic due to the fundraiser held by Senator Roger Wicker in the Eastover neighborhood in Jackson.

One radio caller said that they "figured the traffic jam cost them about $7.50 in gas ".

Editorial - Gas Prices

MADISON, Ms-- New leadership, whether it be Republicans or Democrats, is needed in Washington to change our energy policies. A single act of Congress will not amount to a hill of beans in terms of what we are paying at the pump. My advice- get some new blood in Congress and obviously- the White House.

What can you do to save money now? One of the first things you can do is to pick one day out of the week and simply NOT drive your vehicle. Pick Saturday or Sunday and just don't drive. How's that for a plan?

The next thing you can do is to to never, EVER drive abouve the speed limit. Wake up earlier-drive slower-live longer-pay less.

Flat iron steak

KROGER, U.S.A-- The Kroger grocery store chain is marketing a cut of meat called the "flat iron steak".

"This is the hottest selling steak in all of the Kroger meat departments. You can get a 1 pound steak for five dollars. Many restaurants are selling this exact same cut for eighteen to twenty dollars, " said the head butcher of Kroger in Madison, Ms.

*Editor's Note*

"This steak is phenomenal and I imagine prices won't stay this low forever. I bought about twenty of them and put them in the freezer."

C.O.O.L. !

JACKSON, Ms-- Mississippi House Bill 728 which requires Mississippi restaurants to disclose the country of origin on the label of the Catfish sold in Mississippi resturaunts, passed and is now state law. The country of origin or C.O.O.L. legislation is said by Roger Barlow, president of the Catfish Institute, to be a huge victory for all Mississippians.

Hardy Case, editor of the Catfish Report, released the following statement on the passage of Mississippi House Bill 728:

"Catfish is about as 'Mississippi' as it gets, so I want my family eating Mississippi farm raised Catfish. Everything we do that benefits the health of our state is something worth striving for. Catfish raised here is done so with the same values and standards that you expect from hardworking, Mississippi farmers. Plus, at the end of the day, if you take a big ole bite out of some of that Mississippi's finest, then you already taste the difference."

Khayat bludgeoned by GOP operative Pete Perry

BLOGOSPHERE, Ms-- Today on the conservative news bastion Yall Politics, a commenter who signed his name, "pete perry" stated his disgust for Ole Miss Chancellor Khayat.

Reports from the Ole Miss nation have informed TCR that Chancellor Khayat probably wrote this letter for one of the following two reasons:

1. He is a loyal friend of Scruggs.

2. He is attempting to secure future donations from Richard Scruggs.

"I do not understand the relationship between Chancellor Khayat and Richard Scruggs, partly because their relationship is private and personal. I am however, keenly aware of the sheer need for money by our universities and have first hand experience in lobbying for students at the IHL level. I can see the sense in keeping the millions upon millions of dollars Dickie Scruggs gives to the University of Mississippi open for business, " said an unnamed University of Mississippi former official.

Perry is considered one of the most influential Republicans in Mississippi.

Southern exposure

MADISON, Ms-- Today, the NYT along with every other major news outlet in the country will be discussing the chances of Obama taking some of the Southern states. Look for this headline to dominate all political outlets today.

Former Mississippi governor and senior advisor to Obama is quoted several times in these articles.

www.msnbc.com

Veepstakes 08 (remix)

MADISON, Ms-- Intensely, for the past two weeks, most Sunday talk shows discussed who is going to be the Vice-Presidential nominee for both parties. Yesterday's shows included many middle tier candidates and did not shed much light on for any final prediction.

Democrat Jim Webb of Virginia is still holding steady at 20 percent in the prediction markets, and watchers are seeing a flurry of movement on the Republican side.

If one were to invest 1K on Webb and he gets the vp nod, that person would make 7K.

Questions linger over Davis candidacy

MADISON, Ms--Sources from Washington, D.C. recently told the Catfish Report that most, if not all, of the major hill operatives will not be participating in the 1st District Congressional race in Mississippi. Speculation concerning the likelyhood of another GOP defeat is beginning to increase.

"Is there even a race still going on? " responded Chuck Q. Citizen when asked about his preference in the election.

Enthusiasm says it all

MADISON, Ms-- Political pundits have recently given attention to the enthusiastic levels of respondents polled. As of today, no "enthusiastic level" polling reports have been made public in any of the Mississippi federal elections. This key element may hold the tale of the tape in these elections.

"Many factors will come into play, but a candidate would be wise to know if polling indicates 'highly enthusiastic' levels below 35 percent, " said TCR editor Hardy Case.

Cole Slaw--The way it should be.

MADISON, Ms-- This wonderful southern dish is one that rarely sees any variation in flavor or texture. The following recipe will provide a new texture and an old timey flavor that screams "home made".

1 large head of lettuce-

1 large white onion-

3 long chives-

2 cups of alfalfa sprouts-

Salt to taste-

Black pepper to taste-

2 cups mayonnaise-

1/4 cup olive oil-

1/4 cup vinegar-

1 tsp liquid smoke-

Simply chop up ingredients and mix as well as you can. This slaw is rustic, savory, and smokey. In addition, the sprouts give it a texture that adds a desperately needed crunch to the slaw.

This slaw is also a main ingredient of a future dish to be revealed soon.

The Markets

MADISON, Ms-- The price of Senator Barack Obama's chances of winning the presidency have climbed to 65% on the political prediction markets. Essentially, if you invest 1k on Obama to take the presidency and he wins, you get paid $350 on your 1k investment.

Other highlights below-

Currently Senator John McCain's chances are being wagered at 30%.

Va. Senator Jim Webb's chances of being picked for veep are hovering around 20%.

Clinton's chances are steady at 14% and Wesley Clark's numbers have been fluctuating from 7% to 12%.

It is also worthy to note that the Mississippi senatorial race is receiving some light, but increasing movement.

For Immediate Release

Madison, Ms.- The Catfish Report has returned to the blogosphere. The blog, one of the first political websites in Mississippi, has been termed a "maven of Mississippi politics".

Hardy Case, editor of the Catfish Report, stated the following:

"This blog is dedicated to all of you who love a good, fresh slab of farm raised Mississippi catfish and a good hotly contested county supervisor election."

The editor also wanted to express to the readers that the blog will be "void of any personal opinion, but chock full of analysis, reports on the political prediction markets, and many posts about pork chops, cheese grits, and bbq sauce."

"Unfortunately for some, I will not be commenting on current statewide political elections...just national elections and food," said the editor.

The Report is scheduled to remain active at least until the November elections. The short term goal of this site is to "help all those folks who read Bardwell's site...get through these elections."
