JACKSON, Ms-- Mississippi House Bill 728 which requires Mississippi restaurants to disclose the country of origin on the label of the Catfish sold in Mississippi resturaunts, passed and is now state law. The country of origin or C.O.O.L. legislation is said by Roger Barlow, president of the Catfish Institute, to be a huge victory for all Mississippians.
Hardy Case, editor of the Catfish Report, released the following statement on the passage of Mississippi House Bill 728:
"Catfish is about as 'Mississippi' as it gets, so I want my family eating Mississippi farm raised Catfish. Everything we do that benefits the health of our state is something worth striving for. Catfish raised here is done so with the same values and standards that you expect from hardworking, Mississippi farmers. Plus, at the end of the day, if you take a big ole bite out of some of that Mississippi's finest, then you already taste the difference."
